DESCRIPTION:We are excited to bring a virtual after school program for the 
 2020-2021 school year! Music\, art\, cooking\, and other special events wi
 ll be offered on a monthly basis throughout the school year! Please note t
 hat these programs will be given over via Zoom so access to internet and a
  computer or tablet is needed.\n\nWho?\n\nChildren with epilepsy ages 9-17

 00 \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nCooking: Chef Carlos Pineda\n\nChef Carlos Pineda is th
 e Director of Hospitality and Culinary Services at Rebekah Children’s Se
 rvices\, where he oversees the Culinary Academy and Kneaded Bakery. Born a
 nd raised in Gilroy\, California\, he graduated from Gilroy High School be
 fore attending the Professional Culinary Institute in Campbell. He graduat
 ed from their Bakery and Pastry Program in 2007\, and went on to the Inn a
 t Spanish Bay with Peddle Beach Company where he completed his externship.
  He then worked as a Chef in Monterey\, Carmel\, Los Angeles\, San Jose\, 
 Morgan Hill and Gilroy.\n\nIn 2010 he began his career at Rebekah Children
 ’s Services where he helped develop the Culinary Academy. This program a
 llows disadvantaged youth ages 15-25 to learn hands-on culinary skills in 
 a commercial kitchen. In addition\, students develop job-readiness skills 
 in a safe\, structured\, and caring environment that will prepare them for
  the demands and responsibilities of adult-hood\, independent living\, and
  the real work world. The Culinary Academy has since graduated over 1300 s
 tudents and continues to have a job placing rate of 98% for 8 years straig
 ht. In 2014 Chef Carlos completed the requirements to receive his Californ
 ia Teaching Credential for Vocational Education and is currently working t
 owards his Administration Teaching Credential.\n\nCarlos is an avid suppor
 ter for the LGBTQ+ community and is a huge contributor to various service 
 organizations in the Bay Area. He serves on the Board of Directors for the
  Gilroy Chamber of Commerce\, South County Young Professional’s Network\
 , Gilroy Exchange Club\, EL Cajon Project\, Leadership Gilroy\, and Gilroy
  Foundation. He is a member of the City of Gilroy Housing Advisory Committ
 ee and served as The 2018-2019 President of the Gilroy Sunrise Rotary Club
 \, where he is still an active member. In June 2017 he received the Nob Hi
 ll Award for outstanding community service from the Gilroy Chamber of Comm
 erce\, and in 2018 was highlighted as one of Gilroy and Morgan Hill Today
 ’s 2018 People to watch. Later that year\, he received the Gavilan Colle
 ge Community Spirit Award\, for outstanding Community Service. In 2017\, 2
 018\, and 2019 he won the Garlic Festival Showdown\, donating his earnings
  each year to the Gilroy Foundation\, One Giving Tree and Rebekah Children
 ’s Services respectively. Chef Carlos was recently awarded the 2020 Lead
 ership Gilroy LIFT Award (Lead Inspire Focus Team) for exemplifying what i
 t means to be a leader. Chef Carlos’ motto is to always educate\, inspi
 re and lead.\n\n
