Jose: The best part of epilepsy is when I play with my sisters. They help me get up when I am on the ground. It’s like they’re angels for me. Yesterday I got an attack and they were playing, they called my mom…my big sister, she was carrying me. That’s the best part. The worst thing is when I fall because people look at me like, “What’s wrong with that kid, is he sick or something?” so that makes me nervous and I keep getting up.

Jose: My mom always cheered me up when I was down. She sing me this song. It’s a short song: Cuanto te sientas triste, para otra vez y no te rindas. If you feel down, get back up, everything’s going to be alright. That’s the best part.

Jose: The camp helped me find who I really am. I found passion, found hope. I found friends that help me. So I will always think about the camp.

Jose’s Mother: Él es feliz cuando él está ahí. Eh, porque dijo, “porque me siento libre mamá.” Y dice que no estoy solo.
(Translation: He is happy when he is there. He tells me “I feel free when I am there, mom.” He feels free there, because he is surrounded by so many other kids and he knows that he’s not alone.)

Jose: I just want to help people with epilepsy like mine. So they can handle it. Like I did before.
